Hi, I’m Flor!
My inspiration to start this blog came from the desire to put time and energy into something I’m passionate about while working a regular job that pays the bills but doesn’t truly fulfill me. Right now, I work at a job that doesn’t bring me joy, so I created this space to be creative, feel fulfilled, and hopefully make a living from something I truly love one day.
That love? Cooking.
My love for food started as a child in my grandmother’s kitchen. I grew up in a small rural town in Mexico, surrounded by trees and nature, where even the simplest meals—like rice and beans—tasted like heaven to me. I would help my grandma in the kitchen from a young age, and at least twice a year, she would host a feast and invite the whole town! She was a hardworking woman, and only now do I realize how much effort it takes to cook and host for others. Let me tell you—it’s a lot of work, but it’s also incredibly rewarding.
Even though my early experiences with cooking and hosting were deeply rooted in my rural upbringing, I’ve since expanded my love for food far beyond my hometown. I’ve learned to cook dishes from all over the world because, while I may not always be able to travel, I can bring different cultures into my home through food.
Now, I want to share that love with you. My kitchen isn’t always perfect—it’s sometimes messy, sometimes experimental—but it’s always filled with love, tradition, and passion passed down through generations.
So, I invite you to join me on this flavorful adventure—one that will make our lives a little more special, one recipe at a time, as we discover The Cooking Method.
For my grandma, Rosita.
The woman who first showed me the magic of the kitchen. Some of my earliest memories are in her kitchen—the scent of warm tortillas, the sound of her laughter, and the way she made even the simplest meals feel special. She taught me that food is more than just nourishment—it’s love, connection, and tradition. Every meal I cook, every story I share, carries a little piece of her warmth and wisdom. This space is my way of keeping her spirit alive and sharing the joy she gave me with the world.
Rest easy, abuelita. 💛
